How to Crawl

The 2017 Sacramento Archives Crawl will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7.  Here is everything you'll need to get started:
 
Where to Begin

You can begin at any one of our four host locations, where you will pick up your passport:

California State Archives (1020 O Street)
California State Library (900 N Street)
Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd)
Sacramento Public Library (Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, Central Library, 828 I Street)
 
How to Get Around
Whether you decide to make your way between sites by foot, bike, car or shuttle (or some combination thereof), we have you covered.  Parking and shuttle options can be found here: Transportation and Parking Options

How to Take Part in the Scavenger Hunt
This year we will once again be offering a scavenger hunt for students in grades K-12 and adults, thanks to Yellow Cab of Sacramento.  Your passport will include the hunt questions and instructions. Nine winners will take home a Samsung Tab 4 Nook.
 

Transportation and Parking

There are a number of ways to crawl from location to location on Saturday:

Locations:
California State Archives (1020 O Street)
California State Library (900 N Street)
Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd.)
Central Library (828 I Street)

Driving: Free parking is available at the Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd.). The California State Library (900 N Street) is within easy walking distance of the California State Archives. Convenient street and garage parking is available at many locations downtown for a fee.

Walking: The California State Archives (1020 O Street) and California State Library (900 N Street) are within easy walking distance of one another. The Central Library (828 I Street) is 1/2 mile from the State Archives and State Library.

Bike: All locations now offer bike racks within a block - these are limited in availability.

Bus: Crawlers can also choose to travel aboard a bus that conveniently departs every 15 minutes from each location. Click on the image below to view the bus stop locations and schedule.

Scavenger Hunt for All Ages

Yellow Cab of Sacramento will once again be sponsoring this year's Archives Crawl History Scavenger Hunt. Open to all ages, participants will answer questions about documents and artifacts on display at all four host locations. All who successfully complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win a Samsung Tab 4 Nook. Three Nooks will go to K-5 grade students, three to 6-12 grade students, and three to adult participants. Hunt details and questions will be included in the passports the day of the event. Thank you, Yellow Cab of Sacramento!

Yellow Cab will be awarding nine Samsung Tab 4 Nooks.
